1. Schedule the Task:

This communication should be done in two ways i.e. Employees should communicate about their schedule and the employer should approve it, discuss it and understand how much time the employee will need to perform the function or tasks. 


Employees should be asked to mention the estimated amount of time required for each task and then the actual time for each task should be calculated. So, this way it will give a clear picture of the productivity and speed of the employee. Also after time tracking, employees can do self-evaluation. 


It is advisable to use applications like undiffer to conduct this entire process, doing it in human form will be glitchy and of course, the chances of human error can nullify the entire benefit of task scheduling and time tracking!. 


In nutshell, employees should mention their task or schedule while starting the work and at the end of the day they should inform how much time they took for each task and how many tasks are done.

You can fix a day for each employee or each department whichever is convenient, if the number of employees is less than 10 opt for setting meetings individually with each employee and if the number of employees is more than 10, segmenting meeting department wise is a better option. 


This meeting will be a weekly review meeting, in which you can clearly have word with each employee about their weekly reviews, you can talk with each employee about each client or the project. What have they done for each project in their entire week and how much progress is done in each project. 


The point here is not only getting the crux of the task or project progress but it is to understand the process and efforts done by employees to reach the goals and meet the deadlines. 


Also, you can ask the following questions during the meeting to understand better and get a clear point of views: 

  • What did you do yesterday?
  • What will you do today?
  • Any blockers?
  • What do you need from me? 
  • Where could we improve? 


Generally, such meetings should be kept at weekends or the last working days of the week. And if you are planning to keep such meetings at the starting of the week than the question will be different you can ask the following questions: 

  • What are your goals for this week?
  • How will you plan the work for this week?
  • What are the goals for each project? 
  • Is there any alternate plan or strategy for each project?


3. Build Company Culture:


Building company culture stands vital, you can not ignore this point. Building a company culture involves a lot of parameters. It is not simply about conducting some activities or organizing some training, it is about developing the bond and strengthening the contact between the company and employees. Also, employees should communicate with each other to gel well. 


Unless the company culture is promoted and employees are taken care of, it is not possible to hold employees in the organization for long or employees might feel that they are just hired and are not a vital part of the organization. 


So, developing a company culture is essential and easy. You can explain to every employee about the vision and mission of the company, how the entire work is carried out and what practices that company follows, explain the policies of the company, it includes explaining CSR as well.

Working remotely snatches the freedom of regularly meeting your employees or understanding them as the communication is less and whatever communication is done it is only about the work. There is no personal interaction with the employee, it becomes tough to develop a connection with the employee. 


You can adopt various ways to understand the employees;

- conducting aptitude test

- keeping a fun day

- communicating other than work-related things

- ask them about their stress level

Asking employees a certain question will help to understand them. Being too authoritative with remote employees will not help to deal with them. If a bond is built with an employee who is working remotely, it will keep them motivated to perform better and be more productive.

Being supportive is applicable to everyone, but especially to the seniors. Employees would love to seek their superiors or head being supportive rather than being authoritative. One needs to understand the queries of employees, address their problem and help them find the right path.


No, this doesn't mean to spoon-feed the employees with every solution but you can surely guide them.


The remote team needs more support and supervising, as they might find it difficult to communicate their problems or the troubles they are facing. 


Guiding the employees is important to get the expected results from them. 


To be supportive you can :

- ask whether an employee needs any help

- supervise the task done by them

- explain to them easy ways to do a certain task

- give them frequent suggestions
